Detailed Itinerary
Day 02: Sigiriya – Dambulla - Kandy (90km- 02 hour 30 minutes approx...) Have breakfast at the hotel. Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. (Optional – Entrance Fee Supplement Given) Climb the 5th century rock fortress which is a world heritage site built by king Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The Lion Rock is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, Rampart and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster. Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple. Dambulla, located in central Sri Lanka, is renowned for its historic cave temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site features stunning rock cave temples adorned with intricate Buddhist murals and over 150 statues, including a colossal reclining Buddha. The town itself offers a glimpse into traditional Sri Lankan life, with bustling markets and a serene countryside backdrop. Dambulla is a cultural gem, blending ancient spirituality with the beauty of its natural surroundings. Leave for Kandy. En route visit the Spice Garden to have the lunch. Sri Lanka is famous for its spices and spices gardens. These spice gardens offer tourists memorable visits to various spice plantations in Sri Lanka. To promote and uplift spice growing and spice gardens of Sri Lanka a spice council was established with all key industry private and public sector stakeholders. During early historical times Sri Lanka Known as Taprobane, was world renowned for its quality spices. During ancient times the Greeks, Romans and the Arabic maintained their links with Sri Lanka through the spice trade. Upon arrival visit Kandy Cultural Dance Show. (Optional) Kandy cultural show (Kandy Dance) program. Is one of the famous evening events not to be missed when visiting this heritage city? It starts in the evening and runs for more than 1 hr. Listen to the captivating traditional drummers and be mesmerized viewing the many different art forms from the up country and low country of the island. The spectacular fire dancers and other folklore, Demon dancers, Traditional Kandyan dancers are a definite breathtaking experience to the locals and visitors alike. Proceed to the hotel in Kandy. Day 03: Kandy - Ella (145km- 04 hour 30 minutes approx...) Have breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Holy Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. Visit Kandy viewpoint. Kandy is the charming hill capital of Sri Lanka and the island’s second largest city. At an elevation of 465 meters above sea level, Kandy is located 129 Km North-East of Colombo. Nestling midst low hills, and looped by the Mahaweli River; Kandy is the country’s religious and cultural center and a World Heritage City. Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. (Optional – Entrance Fee Supplement Given)This botanical garden was first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and was expanded by the British. It is 147 acres in extent and provides an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers. Visit Batic factory & Gem Lapidary in Kandy. Visit Ambuluwawa Tower. Ambuluwawa Tower, located near Gampola in Sri Lanka, is a striking architectural marvel perched atop a mountain at an elevation of around 3,567 feet. This unique multi-religious site offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including the Central Highlands. Leave for Ella. Proceed to the hotel in Ella. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 04: Ella - Bentota (250km- 04 hour 30 minutes approx...) Have breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Nine Arch Bridge. Visit the Ravana Waterfalls. Leave for Bentota. Proceed to the hotel in Bentota. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 05: Bentota- Colombo (85km- 01 hour 33 minutes approx...) Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Kosgoda to the turtle hatchery. (Optional – Entrance Fees Apply) Kosgoda is famous for its turtle hatchery operated by the Wildlife Protection Society of Sri Lanka. Several species of turtles, especially the endangered hawksbill, is protected here. Most vulnerable of all are their eggs which are left uncovered on beaches all around the coast. These eggs are brought to the hatcheries by the fishermen. Visitors are shown the huge tanks filled with newborn but lively hatchlings. After being fed, the hatchlings are taken to the sea and released when they are a few days old. Proceed to Balapitiya for a river cruise. (Optional – Supplement Fees Apply) Balapitiya is where one could just sit back and observe how ecology and culture combine under the sun! Cut through the clear water of Madu River - a lifeline of Balapitiya - and head towards Kotu Duwa, the small island housing a temple that dates to ancient Sinhalese kings. Or sail through tunnels of shady mangroves swaying alongside Madu River - hiding an ecological treasure - to witness the tranquility of this bio-diversity hot spot which boasts of reptiles, mollusks and over 70 species of freshwater fish. Today the region - which is strong in observing rural folk life in the island - does not only boast of cinnamon plantations in abundance, but also has a fine 'fish pedicure Center’ - one of the most potent & latest rejuvenation techniques. Apart from these amenities Balapitiya has also become a household name in the minds of bird watchers, ensuring a thrilling offshore experience. Consider enjoying Water Sports in Bentota such as Canoeing, Banana Rides, Sofa Rides, Tube Rides etc. (Optional – Supplement Fee Given) An island encircled by the sea, with many lakes and rivers flowing all over the island, hence water sports have gained popularity in Sri Lanka. Bentota is a popular tourist resort town with its long Bentota River that opens out into the Indian Ocean along the coastline of Bentota and Aluthgama. Leave for Colombo. Proceed to the hotel in Colombo. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 06: Colombo Have breakfast at the hotel. Commence shopping and a city tour of Colombo. As the vibrant capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo pulsates with the essence of our island, offering a lively mix of cultural, shopping, and dining delights. Central to the city's charm is the scenic Beira Lake, home to the tranquil Seema Malaka and nearby Gangaramaya Temples, set against the backdrop of Colombo's modern skyline. For a journey back in time, the National Museum is a must-visit. Housed in a renovated colonial governor's mansion, it is located near the verdant Viharamahadevi Park and the historic Independence Square. Visit Shopping Centers such as Crescat Bouvelard, One Galle Face Mall. Return to the hotel in Colombo. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 07: Colombo Breakfast at the hotel. Relax and enjoy at the hotel property. Vehicle will be provided up to 80km. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 08: Colombo - Airport (40km- 35 minutes approx...) Breakfast at the hotel. Leave for airport in time for flight out of Sri Lanka.
